Photography Locations in
Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

Schwabackers Landing: By far one of the most dramatic mirror reflections available in Grand Teton National Park. Park at Schwackbacker's boat landing along the eastern side of the Snake River above Moose, Wyoming. Just a short hike along the small channel braiding off the Snake River to the north of the Schwabacker's parking lot will bring you to a dog leg in the channel. At that point it will be easy to see the shot. Sunrise is best and bring warm clothes anytime of the year. You will need a graduated neutral density filter (.3,.6,.9), whichever you prefer, to capture the shot in all its glory.

Snake River Overlook: Ansel Adams made this shot famous and is one of the easiest locations to find within the park. Anytime of the year this location photographs well. Sunrises produce vary warm glows and sunsets with clouds produce nice sun rays just as the sun reaches the mountains. With sunrise you will want a graduated neutral density filter (.3,.6,.9), whichever you prefer, to balance the light on the mountains with that in the dark river bottom.

Oxbow Bend: Another well photographed location within the park. Again all you do is drive up and get in line with all the rest of the photographers inspired by the sunrise. Located just east of Jackson Lake in the park's northern end. Hope for a calm morning with no wind which will produce a mirror reflection on the Snake River of Mount Moran. Shoot all along the road with close ups on Mount Moran and wide angles of the river bend and Teton range. Mostly a sunrise shot, but you can get great sunsets (watch the clouds to see what might happen). Also a great spot to find a moose; look into the willows surrounding the western shoreline.

Moulton Barn: By far the most photographed barn in Wyoming, if not the world. Part of the old homestead that operated on Antelope Flats and now preserved by the locals. Located just north of Moose, turn right onto Antelope Flats when coming from the south and drive down the old paved road until you see the "Pink Palace" (old pink house) on your left. At that small junction a dirt road on your right will take you immediately to it. Again, a popular place so be prepared to meet other photographers and get in their good graces by bringing coffee! Mostly a sunrise shot standing along the fence beside the road.
