David Stubbs - Photographer

Jackson-based freelance photographer David Stubbs was born in Roanoke, Virginia in 1976 and spent his childhood in Atlanta, Georgia, the site of one of the world's largest population explosions. Since leaving the suffocating epidemic of suburban sprawl in the mid-nineties, David has lived, photographing and writing in Germany, Maine, Virginia, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Kentucky and Athens, Georgia, where he graduated from the University of Georgia's School of Journalism.

Always searching for brilliant light and telling moments, David spends as much time in the wilderness as possible. An avid backpacker, mountain biker, snowboarder and climber, his work is a lifestyle powered by fresh air and natural wonder.

David came to the valley in 1999 as a staff photojournalist and contributing writer to the Jackson Hole Guide, where his work was awarded documentary and portrait of the year by Wyoming Press Association. Since leaving the Guide in late 2000 to pursue his freelance career, David has worked in Louisville, Kentucky, Germany, Italy, Austria, Atlanta and New York. His work has appeared in Forbes Magazine, USA Today, The Louisville Courier-Journal, Associated Press and Georgia Magazine.
