Carol Polich - Photographer

After teaching for 9 years in music education and the humanities, plus coaching and teaching tennis for over 20 years, and then working a seasonal job at a local ski resort for 16 seasons, it was time to pursue lifelong interests in a professional manner. Carol Polich's interests and hobbies have taken her to southern Africa for a total of 7 times since 1987 after being lured by the African magic while on tour in Kenya in 1986. Those interests have been a combination of travel, photography, and wildlife behaviors. Traveling alone throughout southern Africa, Polich pitches her tent in the national parks and either photographs wildlife from her car or treks miles across the desert and into the dunes to capture her stunning shots. Polich's work covers a variety of subjects: North American and African wildlife, birdlife, reptiles, wildflowers, ancient civilizations and scenics. Polich's travels have taken her not only to the southern African countries, but also to Madagascar, Morocco, Nepal and Southeast Asia where she is always looking for photo opportunities with landscapes and observing the ethology (wildlife behavior) of the wildlife in some of these lesser known areas.

On Assignment
With her travels and diversification with wildlife and scenic photography, a variety of assignment work has developed for Polich since 1997. While traveling in Nepal and Morocco, she shot on locations for Tiger Mountain Lodging based in Kathmandu and the Travel Smith Clothing catalogue out of California. In 1998, Polich was asked to do a shoot with venomous reptiles for the library archives at the Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum and more recently, Death Valley National Park bought many of her scenic and wildlife images for their library archives.
